Watch This is an app for filming a friend's genuine reaction to a video or photo and sharing the combined result. This policy explains what we collect and why. The short version: we collect as little as possible, there are no accounts, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
- Videos and photos you choose. Content you pick and reactions recorded in the app or through a reaction link are uploaded to our servers so we can combine them into the final video.
- A random device identifier. The app generates a random ID for your device so we can track your free-use quota, referral rewards, and subscription status. It is not your name, phone number, Apple ID, or advertising ID.
- Referral codes. If you share or redeem an invite code, we store the code relationship to grant rewards.
- Subscription status. Purchases are processed by Apple. Our billing partner RevenueCat tells us whether your device has an active Pro subscription; we never see your payment details.
What we don't collect
- No accounts, names, emails, phone numbers, or contact lists.
- No precise location.
- No advertising trackers and no sale of personal data — to anyone, ever.
Camera, microphone, and photos
The app uses your camera and microphone only while recording a reaction, and accesses only the photos and videos you explicitly pick. Recording through a shared reaction link starts only after the person presses start — the page says so, and there is no background recording.
How long we keep things
- Reaction request links and their videos are deleted automatically after 7 days.
- Uploaded source files are kept only as long as needed to produce your final video and are then removed.
- Finished videos are stored so you can download and share them, and are removed on the same schedule as the request they belong to.
Where your data lives
Videos are stored in secure cloud storage and transferred over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to stored videos requires expiring, signed links.
Sharing
Videos are only visible to people you share them with. Reaction links are single-use: once a reaction is submitted, the link stops working. We share data with service providers only as needed to run the app (cloud hosting, cloud storage, and RevenueCat for subscriptions).
Children
Watch This is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Your choices
- Delete a reaction request any time in the app — its videos are removed from our servers.
- Deleting the app removes the device identifier from your phone.
- To request deletion of anything else, email us and include the share link or code involved.
